I was the top graduate at UC Berkeley in 2015 for both my major of Molecular Environmental Science and the Department of Environmental Science Policy Management and I received the highest distinction for the Rausser College of Natural Resources. Entomology is a huge passion of mine and the focus within my undergrad major was Insect Science. During my undergrad, I started an insect collection that has now grown to include over 300 families and more than 10,000 individual specimens. I have discovered at least two new species of wasp that I am in the process of describing.
After graduating, I worked as a biological control technician for the USDA and UC Berkeley until 2022 when I enrolled in a PhD program at UC Berkeley to continue my biocontrol research. I passed my qualifying exam in January 2024 and currently have four publications, three of which relate to entomology. I am an NSF GRFP fellow and I have received several other grants and fellowships including the Robert van den Bosch Scholarship in Biological Control, ESPM Continuing Fellowship, and Margaret C. Walker Fund for Systematic Entomology, and others.
During my undergrad I was a TA for two Spider Biology courses for a total of four semesters and as a graduate student I have guest lectured for General Entomology. I am currently only interested in tutoring entomology and since it is a very hands on science, I prefer in person lessons. I can loan basic entomology supplies such as pinning blocks and boards, spreading boards, nets, etc.
