Greetings!!! My name is Stanton B. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from California State University, Northridge. I have taught and tutored chemistry at LAUSD for 31 years. I have also coordinated a Saturday tutoring program at my school for 20+ years. I have instructed classes of 50 students, conducted 1 on 1 tutoring, and everything in between.

Chemistry is not a difficult subject. All students can succeed. All chemistry problems, no matter how complex, can be broken into a series of simple steps, each of which is easily solvable. Indeed, my goal is to help students develop problem-solving skills that will not only contribute to their success in chemistry, but will also contribute to their success in other math-based science classes, such as physics.

Moreover, the mathematics required to solve chemistry problems at the high school and first year college level is quite basic, consisting mainly of arithmetic and elementary algebra. However, students often cannot apply concepts learned in math class to those learned in chemistry class. For this reason, my instruction will include reinforcement and remediation of math skills, as needed, to maximize comprehension of the chemistry lesson in question.

Furthermore, I believe that chemistry tutoring should be available to everyone, and that students should not be denied quality instruction based on affordability. In addition, students should have access to tutoring whenever it is needed. Thus, I will keep my rates low and availability high.

In essence, I want EVERY student to succeed!!! And I will strive to provide dedicated and quality instruction to not only promote academic proficiency, but also instill confidence in one's abilities, which will carry over to future coursework in science, as well as to other disciplines.
