I am a Brazilian-American artist, animator, writer, and translator currently living in Los Angeles. I graduated from Woodbury University with a Major in Animation and a Minor in Psychology, I read and write fiction, blog articles, and academic papers both for fun and as part of my job as a translator.

I believe that if someone is struggling with learning a subject, it's simply a matter of finding a new angle, metaphor, or focus, and as such I've always enjoyed helping my classmates by getting to know them personally and figuring out what they understood best. Learning shouldn't be a dry and boring task; it should be fun, engaging, and reflect your real-life concerns and passions. I also always use the clearest and most direct language to avoid confusion or ambiguity, but I can easily raise the level of challenge if a student is ready to deepen their knowledge.

I am a native Portuguese speaker from Brazil with primary experience in translation; I have been tutoring one student in learning Portuguese for the past 5 years. I use media related to her most passionate interests to keep her engaged, converse with her at both slow and natural speeds, and walk her through the meanings of individual parts of a sentence so she can understand the mechanics of Portuguese grammar.

I have plenty of experience with writing and always excelled at English classes. Whenever my classmates had trouble, I would help them read through their papers, identifying grammar and spelling mistakes and strengthening their arguments with big-picture edits. I believe in writing as an expression of thought and that every student can find their unique voice, regardless of the subject of the paper.

With reading, my greatest strength is to summarize information in easily understandable chunks; however, I don't want to simply tell a student what to think. My goal is to increase comprehension by breaking down the most important parts of a text and understanding how the writing flows from point A to point B.
