As President of the North Hollywood West Neighborhood Council and a board member of the Mid-Town North Hollywood Neighborhood Council, I have personally, and my council has directly, received awards from the City of Los Angeles and the Valley Alliance of Neighborhood Councils. I practice what I preach: Good government through a relaxed, on-hands approach, that includes, not excludes, board members as well as community stakeholders. As the neighborhood council system builds a bridge between the city and local community, I sit on top of that bridge looking down at what has been accomplished in terms of community awareness, planning and land use, arts and humanities and public safety and up at what has yet to be done.
As a tutor of American history, literature and writing, etc., I am practicing what I teach. As the Poet Laureate of North Hollywood, a Pushcart Prize nominee and the author of 26 books, 24 of which are collections of poetry, I have proven to be an award-winning wordsmith. I would offer my students the same passion, wisdom and grace that I use to excel in these fields. I am friendly, fun-loving, but also know where to draw the line and when the tutoring begins.
I offer 24 hour cancellations, and do not charge a fee until my client or student is completely satisfied. There are many tutors who are good at tutoring, but few who are actually practicing what they tutor outside of the classroom. If you choose me, you will understand why I not only love to teach, but to offer students/clients what I have learned in the real world.
I understand what it takes to inspire and locate great writing. Talent cannot be taught, but the correct circumstances to massage that talent can be. A rose is not a rose unless it is watered regularly. I fill-up the pitcher with water and delicately pour it. My constructive criticism also makes me the tutor I am as I have a fine eye and very good instincts. The characteristics that make me a very good writer, make me an equally good teacher.
