Hello! My name is Eliza and I am a guitarist with over a decade of experience performing and teaching music. I have a Bachelor of Music in Classical Guitar Performance, as well as a Professional Studies Diploma in Technology and Applied Composition from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. I have received several awards throughout my career, including the Royal Conservatory of Toronto’s National Gold Medal and Tri-State Certificate of Excellence, with following performances at Carnegie Hall.
When I was first learning guitar, I had a great teacher who taught a hybrid of classical music and pop songs, so I could progress in my technique while still learning things I was interested in. As a teacher myself, I now bring this approach into my classroom as well. I work with students of all ages and levels, from beginners as young as 5 years old to adult hobbyists and advanced players. I teach one-on-one lessons in both private studios and music schools, tailoring each lesson to the student’s interests, whether that’s classical guitar, fingerstyle, pop, or songwriting. I often help students prepare for performances, auditions, or exams, but I also love teaching students who want to learn their favorite songs.
What sets me apart as a teacher is my balance of high-level training with the topics that the student is interested in exploring. My background in classical music allows me to break down what’s happening in a song, and create approachable steps for the student to learn it. My goal is to create a space where students feel motivated to practice and express themselves through music, so much that they’re excited to share what they’re working on with family and friends. I look forward to hearing all about your guitar goals and helping you bring them to life!
