I'm Ian, an educator with 20 years of experience, and come from a family of teachers!! I have worked with thousands of elementary, secondary and university students to help them achieve their academic goals. I passed my CBEST with a perfect score and started teaching privately after 2 years of teaching SAT Test Prep and GMAT Test Prep classes for a well-known test prep company. Since then I have enjoyed mentoring students and helping them realize their academic and extracurricular goals.

My focus is on test prep, academic tutoring and study skills development. I regularly teach Chemistry/AP Chemistry, SAT and ACT Prep, GMAT Prep, Spanish, SSAT, ISEE, CBEST, Algebra, Geometry, Trig, Pre-Calculus, Econ, and Essay Writing.

How do I conduct sessions?

We meet at your house, online, or in a convenient location (this depends on conditions such as Covid-19). I enjoy making the most of every session, ensuring that my students leave feeling that they have received a ton of value from the experience. My clients can get in touch with me very quickly via text to schedule a session or discuss something we are working on remotely together. Having initially worked for larger tutoring companies and later run my own for 20 years, I have a deep understanding of client needs and goals. I make my sessions feel purposeful and fulfilling, yet comfortable, fun, and interesting!

Awesome tutor! Would recommend him to study for a test like ACT, CBEST, and etc.

With Ian, I really enjoyed having him as a tutor. I focused more on the CBEST. After many trials and tribulations, I was getting frustrated about not passing the CBEST, but I got to pass the CBEST, all thanks to Ian. From the beginning when we first met, we sat down and he asked me about what he thought my strengths and weaknesses were as of why I was not passing it. He was patient and very understanding from the beginning. He showed strategies for the reading section particularly and I learned a lot from him. I cannot thank him enough. I would highly recommend him for any high school and college students, who have big test to study from, such as the ACT, CBEST, SAT, and etc.

Great Tutor

I worked with Ian about twice a week for 3-4 weeks before taking my GMAT. I needed some review on the quantitative section because most of the material I had not seen in awhile. He brought multiple sets of practice problems to each lesson based on what material I needed the most work on. With his help I received a 700 on my GMAT. I could not have done it without him and I would highly recommend him to anyone in a similar situation.
