Math & Reading Tutor | Algebra through AP Calculus

I am a college freshman with a strong academic background in math and english, including AP Calculus BC, in which I earned a score of 5, and AP English Language where I scored a 5 as well. Throughout high school, I earned straight A's in all my classes earning a 4.83 GPA in my senior year. I volunteered over 30 hours tutoring peers and younger students in math and english during library sessions, providing one-on-one guidance on homework, test preparation, and understanding key concepts. In addition, I served as a mentor for a Mandarin reading book club for two years, helping elementary school students improve their reading fluency, comprehension, and confidence with reading in Chinese.

I hope that through my tutoring I can help build confidence in students and improve their understanding so that they can excel as an individual and in their classes. I tailor each session to the individual’s needs, whether that involves breaking down complex problems step by step, practicing exercises, or helping students develop strategies to tackle challenging material. I have experience working with both one-on-one students and small groups, and I adapt my teaching style to fit the age and skill level of each student, ranging from elementary school reading learners to high school calculus students.

Through these experiences in teaching younger students, I have learned to make my lessons engaging and productive for my students. I am committed to helping students gain a deep understanding of the material and achieve their academic goals. My combination of strong subject knowledge, hands-on tutoring experience, and mentorship background allows me to provide the right kind of help for any student.
