Hi, I’m Samali! I am a medical student at the UC Irvine School of Medicine and an Emory University graduate. I primarily tutor AP Biology, IB Biology, and other high school and introductory college science courses. I also enjoy supporting students in psychology, neuroscience, chemistry, and math through precalculus.

I began tutoring in middle school as a teaching assistant and have continued working with students through paid, volunteer, and academic tutoring roles. At Emory, I served as a committee member and mentor for the Science, Health, and Diversity Program, supported by the Winship Cancer Institute, where I helped middle school students build confidence and strengthen their skills in science and math.

I work with students of different ages, backgrounds, and learning styles and am happy to create a personalized plan based on each student’s course, goals, and schedule. My teaching style is patient, supportive, and tailored to each student. During lessons, I break complex topics into manageable steps, use diagrams and examples, and incorporate practice questions to strengthen both content knowledge and test-taking skills.

For AP and IB Biology students, I can help with course content, unit exams, data-analysis questions, free-response questions, and long-term exam preparation. My goal is for students to leave each session feeling more confident, prepared, and capable of approaching challenging material independently.

As a recent Emory University graduate and current medical student at the UC Irvine School of Medicine, much of my academic background and tutoring experience has focused on biology. After earning a 511 on the MCAT and successfully navigating the medical school admissions process, I understand both the content knowledge and study strategies needed for challenging science courses. Amazing tutor!!

Sam is truly a great tutor. Not only does she have an excellent understanding of the content she is teaching but she is also highly skilled in teaching that content to others. She is very adaptive in her lessons and uses various techniques until she finds what works for you. In a recent lesson with her if I was having trouble understanding the DNA replication fork even after reviewing diagrams and pictures. Rather than just repeating herself, Sam pulled out a hair tie to use as a model and then explained the concept in a different way which I was able to understand.
