I am a credentialed Special Education Teacher with 25 years extensive experience working with elementary-aged students in grades K–5 in a public school setting and private reading tutoring. Throughout my career, I have specialized in supporting students with learning disabilities, including challenges in reading, writing, mathematics, and executive functioning. In addition to providing direct instruction, I conduct academic assessments, write educational reports, determine eligibility for special education services, develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and monitor student progress toward academic goals. My background has given me a strong understanding of how to identify learning needs and create individualized instruction that helps students succeed.

For many years, I have provided both small-group and one-on-one instruction in reading, writing, and mathematics. I am trained in the SONDAY System, a structured literacy program designed to support struggling readers and students with dyslexia. I am also trained in Lindamood-Bell methodologies and have successfully used these approaches to improve students' phonemic awareness, decoding, reading fluency, comprehension, and overall confidence as readers. My teaching approach is multisensory, explicit, and data-driven, allowing me to meet students where they are and help them make measurable academic progress.

My experience includes working with a wide range of learners in classroom, small-group, and individualized settings. I collaborate closely with families, general education teachers, and related service providers to support student growth and achievement. I am passionate about helping students build foundational skills, develop confidence in their abilities, and become more independent learners. My goal as a tutor is to provide engaging, personalized instruction that helps each student reach their full potential while fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.
