Hi, I’m Mia! I began tutoring English as a community college student in August of 2019, and have been providing writing support to students ever since! I tutored all through college at both a two-year and four-year university, graduating summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in English. Additionally, I have earned the College Learning and Reading Association’s Tutor Training Program Certification (ITTPC) . After graduating in 2023, I began working as a writing Center coordinator at a community college. I am extremely passionate about supporting students in becoming more confident writers, so much so that I returned to school and earned a master’s degree in English in December of 2025 with the goal of teaching college composition. I can help students through every stage of the writing process, including brainstorming, drafting, editing, and citing sources using MLA, APA, or Chicago format. Further, I can help with a wide range of writing projects, including creative writing, research papers, literary analyses, college/scholarship personal statements, and resumes and cover letters, to name a few. While my experience is primarily in tutoring college students, I have also worked with many dual-enrollment high school students.
My primary objective as a tutor is to use methods to make the writing process more approachable for students. I know that writing can be an intimidating process, so I strive to create an environment that is kind, supportive, and provides students with actionable steps to build their writing skills. Further, I tailor my approach based on the student’s needs, goals, and learning style, balancing providing verbal and written instructions, asking questions, and using visuals. I always invite students to vocalize their needs and any feedback they have during the session so I can better support them.
