Hi, I’m Dr. Alma. I’ve taught all subjects at the elementary level and middle school, served as a Reading Specialist, and taught college level English courses. I have also taught homeschool children in all subjects specially in Classical Education, and Singapore Math and Orthographic Reading, Methodology. I hold a Doctor of Education in Education, a Master’s in Reading/Language Arts Education with a background in orthographic reading methodology, and a Bachelor's in Liberal Studies. My current Teaching Credentials include K-12 Multiple Subjects, Academic Specialist in Reading Instruction, and English as a Second Language. I am also a native Spanish speaker and possess a Bilingual Certificate of Competence in Spanish.

I believe every student has the innate ability, unique capacity, and the right to follow their dreams and intellectual pursuits. I am experienced in working with children with various learning disabilities: ADHD, dyslexia, and autism. I have taught teachers and students alike to explore their distinctive talents, to engage in curiosity, make connections across concepts and domains, express themselves fluently and creatively, and encourage the discovery of innovative solutions for everyday challenges. What weaves these foundational building blocks together are appropriate academic and instructional standards and ample diverse learning opportunities. With appropriate support and application of these educational approaches, I have seen students obtain a high retainment of content and increase their overall aptitude.

As an experienced public-school educator of twenty-five years, I have additionally privately tutored a diverse spectrum of students for the past four years.
