I am a Special Education teacher with knowledge in behavior management. I have 22 years of experience working with students with special needs. I have an Education Specialist/Extensive Needs (formerly Moderate to Severe) credential. I started my educational journey at Napa Valley College, and transferred to Sonoma State for an undergrad in Liberal Studies. I continued at SSU for my credential. I worked as a behavior aide for the Napa Valley Unified School District to support myself through college. I continue to take classes at our local community college as often as possible.
I am familiar with contemporary teaching methods for students with special needs. I am flexible and understand success in the biggest and tiniest show of progress. I understand that instantaneous formative assessments mold the lesson to the individual need of the learner. I understand that we have good days, hard days, and great days!
I have worked 1:1 to implement behavior plans. I have designed multi-tier lessons to support and teach students of all skillsets, from emerging to mastery. I work with specialists and families to write and create and execute IEP goals. I have worked with students from pre-k to Transition. I am able to help with academics, functional skills, and communication goals.
