Hi! My name is Jolie, and I am currently a student at the University of California, Irvine studying biology with the goal of becoming an ophthalmologist. I have always loved learning and helping others understand new concepts. When I started college, I already had a large number of college credits completed, which helped me move quickly into higher level coursework. Math has always been one of my favorite subjects, and I also enjoy creative writing and English. I love helping students see that subjects like math and reading can actually be fun and rewarding when they are explained clearly and patiently.
Over the years I have spent a lot of time helping younger students with homework, studying, and understanding difficult topics. Most of my experience has been working one on one with elementary and middle school students, where I focus on breaking concepts down step by step so they feel confident solving problems on their own. I believe that every student learns differently, so I try to adjust my explanations to match the student’s learning style. My goal is not only to help students finish their homework, but also to help them truly understand the material so they feel more confident in class.
Outside of academics, I enjoy being active and spending time outdoors. I have played more than six different sports and continue to stay involved in sports for fun while in college. Because of this, I understand how important balance and encouragement are for students who are managing school, activities, and personal goals. I aim to create a supportive and positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence in their abilities.
