Hey there, my name is Alexander, and I tutor middle school through lower-division-college math and physics, but I specialize at the high school level. I recently graduated from UC Santa Barbara with my BS in CCS Physics, my minor in electrical engineering, and my minor in management. CCS Physics is typically ranked as one of the top 20 physics programs in the United States. I provide tutoring in AP Physics and AP Calculus, SAT and ACT math and science sections, and SAT II Math and Physics subject tests with a focus on test-taking strategy. I also offer tutoring sessions tailored for acing midterms, finals, and school projects as well as scientific presentation skills. I teach based upon lesson plans that I formulate before the tutoring session begins, based on the topics of interest and questions that students send me prior to the session. At university, I found that the professors who imparted knowledge to my friends and I most effectively were those that first explained why a concept is important and how it fits into the overall big picture, then explained the concept intuitively and in basic detail, then finally backed up the first two explanations with mathematical rigor and explained how exactly how the math corresponds to the intuitive explanation. After that, the most successful professors showed example problems and gave ample time for us to ask questions and would sit patiently with students while helping them reason through the concepts step-by-step. I have always strived to apply this teaching approach in my tutoring sessions. I try to make learning as enjoyable as possible, while facilitating a deep understanding of the subject matter, which is derived from first principles reasoning, rather than merely superficial memorization. This gives students the ability to develop a true mastery of the subject and makes fast and successful test-taking relatively easy because any problem that is encountered can be effectively adapted to. While I have a standard framework for tutoring, I'm very receptive to
