Bio

I am an experienced math, music, and LSAT tutor with a strong academic and professional background. I earned a 175 on the LSAT (top 0.5% of test takers), was admitted to Harvard Law School, and graduated magna cum laude (top 10%). I am an experienced math, music, and LSAT tutor with a strong academic and professional background. I earned a 175 on the LSAT (top 0.5% of test takers), was admitted to Harvard Law School, and graduated magna cum laude (top 10%). After completing two federal clerkships, I worked at top-tier litigation firms. I also graduated with honors from Harvard College, where I studied government, played in the Harvard-Radcliffe Orchestra, and served as a calculus course assistant for Harvard’s introductory calculus sequence.

Teaching is my true passion. I tutor the LSAT, SAT and ACT (especially math), calculus, algebra, and music (violin, viola, and music theory). Calculus is my absolute favorite subject to teach, and my experience as a Harvard course assistant gave me extensive hands-on experience helping students master difficult concepts in a classroom and one-on-one setting.

My teaching philosophy focuses on developing the right mindset for mastery. While I offer practical strategies for standardized tests, I emphasize targeted skill development and long-term study planning. Many students struggle because they study without clear goals or rely too heavily on guided practice, only to underperform when working independently.

For calculus in particular, I focus on conceptual understanding and learning how to set up problems correctly. Because calculus was developed to solve real-world problems, students can often approach it visually and intuitively rather than relying on rote memorization or abstract algebra tricks. I had significant success with this approach as a course assistant at Harvard, and I continue to use it with my tutoring students. For the LSAT, I similarly emphasize critical thinking, pattern recognition, and mastery of fundamentals, along with a concrete plan for improvement.

Government & Politics

Government & Politics

Graduated with honors from Harvard College, where I majored in government and received high honors on my senior thesis on international relations (specifically, a thesis discussing the origins of the Taliban). Graduated in the top 10% of my class in Harvard Law School, and received the top grade in multiple individual classes (including constitutional law). Clerked (ie, did a kind of legal residency) for two federal judges, including working on constitutional law cases involving disputes over the way our government is supposed to work. Interned for my Congressman and Senator in college. Scored a 5 on the AP US History and AP European History exams.
Logic

Logic

As an attorney, my day-to-day work involves making logically structured arguments and poking holes in the logic of my adversaries' arguments. I also scored in the top 0.5% of test takers for the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT), which is primarily a test of logical reasoning.
LSAT

LSAT

I scored in the top 0.5% of test-takers on the February 2017 LSAT, earning a score of 175. This score also put me in the top quartile for LSAT scores among students admitted to Harvard Law School. Almost entirely through self-study, I was able to improve my score by about 15 points.
Political Science

Political Science

I have an AB cum laude in government from Harvard University, where I studied American and comparative government, political theory, and especially international relations. I wrote a 120-page thesis on Afghanistan's civil war during the 1990's, which received high honors from the Government Department. I've also spent a summer working on Capitol Hill and another summer working for my Congressman in his district. My current job, which I've had for over a year, involves both law and politics.

SAT Math

SAT Math

I earned a perfect score on the SAT, including on the math section. I have many years of experience tutoring students in math and specifically in the math section of the SAT, and also worked as a math course assistant as a student at Harvard College. While at Harvard College, I also took rigorous courses in quantitative subjects such as multivariable calculus, abstract linear algebra, physics, and statistics.
Violin

Violin

My main instrument is the viola (which I did not see listed), but I also play violin (the two are substantially similar in terms of playing technique). In high school, I gave music lessons to elementary and middle school children while also participating in the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra, Missouri All-State Orchestra, the National High School Honors Orchestra, and a highly competitive chamber music program. At Harvard, I spent four years as the principal viola of the Bach Society Orchestra and also played in the prestigious Harvard-Radcliffe Orchestra. I've also studied music theory and history (I earned a 5 on the AP Music Theory exam and took two semesters of Theory in college).
