Excellent Chemistry Tutor

Julie is a superb AP Chemistry tutor with uncommon teaching techniques. While simplifying complex concepts, she separates the important from mundane, and inculcates in the students a quiet sense of confidence. This confidence allows the students to do exceptionally well in the classroom that in turn feeds their confidence on the AP exam. While being gentle, she also is a tough task master. I am not sure who suggested her as a tutor but I am in their debt. All in all, an exceptional find. Thank you, Julie.

Excellent AP Chemistry Tutor

Julie is an excellent Chemistry tutor who is skilled at identifying her students’ strengths and weaknesses. She takes time to focus on areas that need improvement and puts effort into helping her students succeed. She is also very organized. She prepares a wide range of practice materials based on units, topics, and different difficulty levels. In addition, she carefully plans out schedules so that I can fully learn and practice the material before each unit exam. One thing I appreciate about Julie is her patience and honesty. She teaches at a pace that I can easily follow, making sure I understand each concept before moving on. Unlike many other tutors I have worked with, Julie makes learning very interactive. Instead of simply lecturing for two hours, she lets me work through worksheets and even create stories to help me remember concepts. Although she can be strict about mastering the fundamentals, I truly believe it has strengthened my understanding and made it much easier to build on difficult concepts later on. Last year, I struggled a lot in Chemistry Honors Class and finished the class with a C. Because of that, I was worried that taking AP Chemistry this year would be extremely challenging. However, after attending her tutoring twice a week, I gained a stronger understanding of the material and became far more confident in both class and during tests, which let me earn an A in AP Chemistry this year. Julie started with my son just a few months prior to the AP Chem exam. She was very organized and knowledgeable! She had lessons and questions planned and made him a timeline that allowed for high yield information with plenty of review. It was very clear that she loves Chemistry, and that she wanted my son to get the highest score possible. Julie is instrumental in teaching and improving Dominick's understanding of AP chemistry concepts. She preplans her classes and regularly tests his understanding of the material. He has shown marked improvement in his high school chemistry class performance and participation, and I believe these are a reflection of Julie's lessons. She is strict, but I think teenagers need that to keep them focused and goal-driven.

Amazing AP and College level Chemistry teacher

If you need to understand, not just survive advanced Chemistry classes look no further! I am an unconventional student who often misses classes due to extracurriculars. I started by being afraid of AP Chemistry and now I am doing very well in my college level Chem classes. Julie’s determined attitude changed my fear into proficiency and made me a top student. Her work did not resume to our hours. She taught me what my school did not, that in science it is necessary to truly understand all aspects, not just some recipes and common solving patterns. She gave me numerous extra and optional problems that helped me grasp the full depth of the notions, not just the most common and basic problems. Initially I wondered if it was really necessary. It was and as notions piled up on each other like LEGO pieces, I did well at my exams, because I was taught to understand. Thank you so much!
