Electrical Engineering

I have extensive knowledge in the field of Electrical Engineering. While I have limited tutoring experience, I believe I have fairly deep and broad understanding of this field that I can leverage to teach my students. My approach will be methodical, gradual and targeted to address the topics and problems my students want me to focus on. As part of my course work for undergraduate studies, I studied various topics like Electronic Devices and Circuits, Control Systems, Electronic Design, Power Electronics, Network Analysis and Synthesis, Digital Circuits, Linear ICs and Applications and Communication Systems. Later on, as part of my graduate studies, I studied more advanced topics like Representation and Analysis of Random Signals, Spectral Estimation, Digital Control Systems. I have also published a paper in the IEE Proceedings Journal F (Radar and Signal Processing) that was based on my thesis for Master’s. I also have significant industry experience applying this knowledge to solve more advanced problems or to enhance features of existing products. Over the years, I have made sure that I kept up with advances in each of these topics. With this depth of knowledge, I am confident that I have the expertise to teach my students at a pace they are comfortable with.

Information Technology

Worked from 1990-1995 at Center for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC), a premier R&D institution created to build a parallel processing super-computer in India. I lead a team of engineers to help design and develop the data-link layer for the custom interconnect used to communicate between different processing nodes, with particular emphasis on performance. This required a deep understanding of computer networks, network protocols (OSI and TCP/IP), device driver development on a UNIX (Solaris) platform, C language, and software development methodologies available on UNIX. After that, I worked from 1995-1998 at Querisoft Technologies that was based in India and had its main office in Atlanta, GA. I initially worked on Microsoft Web Server (IIS) technologies to develop an anti-hacking server-side plug-in that would help detect and block suspicious and malicious attacks on IIS servers. This required a good understanding of the architecture of Web Servers and Browsers, C++, Visual Studio, Windows security architecture, and Windows system management. Later on, I worked on developing the user interface for an internet banking platform. This required a good understanding of HTTP, HTML, VBScript/JavaScript, C language, as well as the Document Object Model (DOM) used by Web Browsers. Then, from 1998-2001, I worked at VeriSign, Mountain View, CA. Initially, I worked on developing an ActiveX control and a Plug-in that could be installed on a Web Browser to encrypt/decrypt as well as digitally sign/verify documents. This required a very good understanding of C, C++, ActiveX control and Plug-in architectures, DOM supported by both IE and Netscape browsers, cryptography standards like PKCS, X.509, DER/BER encoding, Microsoft Cryptography API (CAPI) and Smart Cards.
