Learning is driven by students. As a classroom teacher, I found that engagement works when students had a part of creating their path. This led me to co-create projects and goals that favored both students' academic goals and personal interest. This mostly been done through one-on-one arrangements with the students (and sometimes parents) involved. The WHY drives the experimentation.
Every student learns a bit differently. My job as a teacher/tutor is to help students find their effective study methods. This might include some data collection, analysis, and adjustment. The goal isn't perfect scores next week. It is reliable habits for a life-long learner.
I built my lessons on building necessary understanding and fluency. It is impossible to learn without fundamentals. I am well-versed in teaching phonics, literacy, math, and social studies, able to teach the basics and explain why students need to work through the difficulties of understanding and practice. I also like working with students and generally found that students like working with me.
Feel free to contact me for ideas, resources, and tutoring. I also welcome feedback about anything. After all, I am also here to learn.
