Teaching has been a lifelong passion of mine, and I love helping students realize they are capable of more than they think. I hold a Master of Science in Kinesiology from California Baptist University and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with an emphasis in Social Work from California State University, Fullerton. I tutor English, math, science, reading, and writing, and I've also worked as a professional trainer, teaching computer programs to cruise ship passengers and later training professionals in hardware and software for Robert Half.
I've worked with students from age 5 to 94, and I believe every student learns differently. My teaching style is patient, encouraging, and personalized to each individual's learning style and goals. I enjoy making challenging concepts easier to understand while building confidence along the way. I also have experience working with students with ADHD and autism.
Some of my favorite success stories include helping a student improve from below kindergarten reading level to a third-grade reading level in one semester, helping a struggling Algebra student earn an A before eventually becoming an attorney, and teaching a 94-year-old how to use Photoshop well enough to create a treasured family portrait that included a beloved dog who had passed away before the family photo. Whether a student needs help catching up, getting ahead, or simply gaining confidence, my goal is to make learning engaging, effective, and enjoyable.
