I took AP Chemistry during my senior year of high school, obtaining an A in the class and scoring a 5 on the exam. My experience earning multiple 5s on AP exams has given me insight into how to understand College Board material; both inside the classroom and on test day.
Although AP Chemistry has a reputation for being a difficult class, I believe that any student can succeed in it with the right mindset. Topics like electrochemistry and VSEPR theory can be intimidating, but by breaking them down into simpler language and familiar scenarios they can be approached with confidence. This exact mindset is what helped me succeed in AP Chemistry and beyond!
While I am transitioning into formal tutoring, I have informal experience helping peers understand AP Chemistry material in class. I understand how vulnerable it can feel to struggle with content, so I prefer to teach in a collaborative and peer-like way. I want students to be comfortable enough to ask questions and make mistakes so we can efficiently target gaps in comprehension.
