I am an ordained rabbi, having received my ordination from the Jewish Theological Seminary. I also hold a Joint Master's degree in Jewish Education from JTS and Columbia Teachers College.

My Jewish journey began in a Reform household and took me across the full spectrum of Jewish tradition — including study at the University of Judaism, Yeshiva University, Machon Pardes, time learning, singing and praying with Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, immersive time in nature with Wilderness Torah, and eight years of Hebrew and Religious study before receiving my ordination.

My teaching experience spans children, teens, and adults in one-on-one and small group settings. I have prepared students for Bar and Bat Mitzvah across all non-Orthodox denominations, teaching Torah reading, Haftarah, and all five systems of Biblical cantillation — including Song of Songs, Ruth, and Ecclesiastes.

I also teach Biblical and prayer book Hebrew, Parsha and Chumash, Chassidut, and Shabbat home practices including the Blessing of Children and Eishet Chayil.

I teach exclusively online via Zoom with professional video and audio equipment, making me available to students anywhere in the world. I am also the author of Three Doors to the Soul, published on Amazon, Kindle, and Audible.

My approach is warm, patient, and entirely student-centered — I meet each learner exactly where they are and build from there.

Approved Subjects

Bar Mitzvah

Bar Mitzvah

I am an ordained rabbi with a Joint Master's degree in Jewish Education from the Jewish Theological Seminary and Columbia Teachers College, and I have prepared students of all ages and backgrounds for Bar and Bat Mitzvah across all non-Orthodox denominations. I teach Torah reading, Haftarah, D'var Torah, and all five systems of Biblical cantillation — including Song of Songs, Ruth, and Ecclesiastes — enabling me to teach trope for every Jewish holiday and occasion throughout the year. My approach draws on eight years of formal Hebrew study, time learning, singing and praying with Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, and a lifetime of loving these texts — bringing warmth, patience, and genuine joy to every student's preparation. I work exclusively online via Zoom with professional video and audio, available to students anywhere in the world with flexible scheduling across days, evenings, weekdays, and weekends.
Bible Studies

Bible Studies

I am an ordained rabbi with a Joint Master's degree in Jewish Education from the Jewish Theological Seminary and Columbia Teachers College, with eight years of formal Hebrew and religious study. My journey through Jewish texts has taken me across the full spectrum of tradition — from Reform to Orthodox institutions, time learning and praying with Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, and immersive study with Wilderness Torah. I teach the Hebrew Bible through the lens of living wisdom — Parsha, Chumash, the Megillot, Chassidut and Kabbalah — connecting ancient texts to personal meaning and everyday life. My approach is warm, patient, and student-centered, welcoming learners of all backgrounds and levels.
Hebrew

Hebrew

I am an ordained rabbi with eight years of formal Hebrew study — including two and a half years living and studying in Israel — and a Joint Master's degree in Jewish Education from the Jewish Theological Seminary and Columbia Teachers College. I teach both Biblical and prayer book Hebrew — including Torah reading, Haftarah, and all five systems of Biblical cantillation (trope), among them Song of Songs, Ruth, and Ecclesiastes, which few tutors know. My studies took me across the full spectrum of Jewish tradition, from the University of Judaism and Yeshiva University to Machon Pardes, and I spent time learning, singing and praying with Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach. I work with students of all ages and levels — complete beginners through advanced readers — in a warm, patient, one-on-one online setting.
Religion

Religion

I am an ordained rabbi with a Joint Master's degree in Jewish Education from the Jewish Theological Seminary and Columbia Teachers College, with eight years of formal Hebrew and religious study across the full spectrum of Jewish tradition — Reform, pluralistic, and Conservative institutions. My approach to Jewish religion is experiential and alive, informed by time learning, singing and praying with Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, immersive study with Wilderness Torah, and a deep love of the Chassidic masters including the Baal Shem Tov, the Maggid of Mezritch, and the Seer of Lublin. I teach Chassidut, Parsha, Chumash, adult Shiurim, and Shabbat home practices, welcoming students from Conservative, Reform, Reconstructionist, Renewal, unaffiliated, and interfaith backgrounds. I am also the author of Three Doors to the Soul, a journey through religion, science and spirituality available on Amazon and Audible.

Fantastic Teacher! Extremely Patient! Makes Learning Simple and Enjoyable!

I can’t say enough great things about Rabbi Mark's tutorials. He knows his stuff and every explanation is clear, thoughtful, and rooted in deep knowledge. You can tell right away that he’s not only incredibly well-versed, but also genuinely passionate about what he’s teaching. What really sets him apart is how he makes complex ideas feel approachable. He breaks things down in a way that’s easy to follow without ever oversimplifying, and you walk away feeling like you’ve actually learned something meaningful. His depth of understanding is impressive, and it shows in every session. If you’re looking for someone who is knowledgeable, engaging, and able to teach with both clarity and insight, he’s exceptional. I highly recommend his tutorials.
