Hello, my name is Dr. Don, and I am currently an astronomy postdoctoral researcher. I have a PhD in astrophysics (2024) and a Master's degree in physics (2019), both obtained while maintaining a GPA > 3.6. As a previous community college employee, I spent 5 years tutoring mathematics ranging from introductory algebra to advanced calculus. In that time I also tutored college-level Newtonian mechanics and electromagnetism. Later, as a graduate student, I instructed multiple astronomy lab courses for undergraduate students and received overwhelmingly positive student feedback on my course evaluations. In addition to math, physics, and astronomy, I have gained much experience in Python programming and have had much success at teaching it to STEM graduate students.
In my experience, the benefit of tutoring is that it can be tailored to fit the individual in a way that is too inefficient for the classroom. Given that, my approach is built on utilizing flexibility and patience to make sure a concept is retained deeply and in a useful manner. I believe this is key to helping students overcome obstacles in their learning and for ultimately empowering them with the growth mindset they need to succeed with or without tutoring. If you think I may be of assistance to you, I am more than happy to start with a free consultation, where we can discuss your specific needs and develop a game plan together!
