Hello, I'm Linda! I am a certified teacher of Multiple Subjects, including Math and Reading with 20 years of classroom experience teaching grades 6-8th for Alhambra Unified Schools, recently substitute teaching for Arcadia Unified Schools, and administering state proficiency tests for Alhambra’s English Language Learner programs. I privately tutor grades 5th-12th English, grades 5th-9th Math. I completed my teaching credential at California State University, Los Angeles, with a 4.0, on top of my Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts from the University of Indiana, Bloomington.
As a former public-school teacher, I have knowledge of how the school systems work and extensive experience working with students of all different types and learning abilities. I am a firm believer in scaffolding the material students are working on, which is a strategy that builds student comprehension upon steps they’ve mastered previously. The goal of a scaffolded teaching style is for students to gain independence and confidence in the subject they are learning, and to also foster a sense of joy and accomplishment in the learning process!
I have honed my teaching skills to a fine craft and combine a love of supporting students with my own tutoring service to provide a high-quality learning experience. My years in the classroom at Alhambra USD as well as private tutoring make me highly qualified to help students efficiently and enjoyably reach their educational goals.
