My name is Lewis G. I started piano when I was nine years old, and I started composing when I was 13. I am now 22, and I have since graduated from Chapman University as a music major. I have taught music since I was 15, and I have taught in group and private settings, I have worked with general ed. and special needs students, I have participated in a music therapy volunteer group (Banding Together-San Diego) in which I taught special needs adults and teens social skills through music. No matter the situation, my goal as a teacher is to help students enjoy themselves and to help them develop discipline through music. I hope that my students open their minds and senses to the aural experience that we consider music, and I hope that they can live better lives because of the music education.
I graduated with a Bachelor's of Music in Piano Performance and Music Composition from Chapman University in Orange, CA. I have written several pieces for several different ensembles, including vocal music.
When all is said and done, my teaching philosophy is to accommodate students' needs as they relate to their studies. I understand that no one student is the same. Each student has their own strengths and weaknesses, and my job is to help my students invest in their strengths and work through their weaknesses.
