Hi, I'm Kathleen, though most of my students know me as Ms. Chaon.

I earned my undergraduate degree in Business Management from Pepperdine University in 1993 and spent many successful years building a career in IT sales. While I enjoyed the challenges and opportunities of the business world, I eventually realized my true passion was helping children learn and grow academically.

In 2018, I returned to school to pursue that passion and earned my teaching credential from Vanguard University in 2019. Since then, I've found tremendous joy in helping students build confidence, strengthen their academic skills, and discover that they are capable of far more than they often believe.

I believe every child can succeed with the right support, encouragement, and teaching approach. My goal is to make learning engaging, meaningful, and confidence-building so that each student develops not only strong academic skills but also a lifelong love of learning.

I am an experienced K–6 elementary educator and reading intervention teacher dedicated to helping students build strong literacy skills and confidence as readers. I use the proven instructional strategy of repeated reading to develop fluency, accuracy, and comprehension, and some of my students have improved by a full grade level through this targeted approach. In addition to reading fluency, I provide individualized support in vocabulary development, reading comprehension, and writing, helping students strengthen the foundational skills they need for long-term academic success. My goal is to create a positive, encouraging learning environment where every student can grow into a capable and confident learner.
