I hold an M.S. in Electrical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Michigan, and completed postdoctoral training in Electrical Engineering at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). I am a former tenured professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University, where I taught and mentored students for more than 10 years.

My teaching experience spans high school, undergraduate, graduate, and professional learners. At Purdue, I taught courses including Circuit Analysis, Signal Processing, and Optical Imaging System Design, and supervised numerous graduate and undergraduate research projects. During graduate school, I also served as a teaching assistant for physics courses, providing both classroom instruction and individualized support.

I have extensive experience in one-on-one tutoring, small-group instruction, and large classroom teaching, both in person and online. My teaching philosophy is to build a strong conceptual foundation while helping students develop practical problem-solving skills. I adapt my approach to each student's learning style, breaking down complex topics into clear, manageable steps and using real-world examples to make challenging concepts easier to understand.
My areas of expertise include physics, mathematics, electrical engineering, optics, signal processing, and engineering problem solving. Whether you are preparing for exams, working through coursework, or seeking deeper understanding of advanced topics, I strive to help students gain confidence and achieve lasting success.

Incredibly Knowledgeable, Kind, and Dedicated Tutor

I am extremely grateful to have met Mike and to have had the opportunity to learn from him. Mike is an amazing, kind, and knowledgeable tutor. Before working with him, I was struggling with the overwhelming course load and had difficulty learning many of the new concepts. Within only a month and a half, he taught me the entire analog circuits course (ECE 35) and made sure that I understood the concepts inside and out. From nodal and mesh analysis to Thevenin and Norton equivalents, AC circuits, and impedance, his explanations were always very clear and intuitive. Even when I had trouble understanding something, he always found different ways to explain it until the concept finally clicked. After each class, Mike provided me with high-quality homework problems that tested my understanding of the material. He would always carefully go over the problems during our sessions to ensure that I understood not only how to solve them, but also the reasoning behind each procedure. His patience, teaching ability, and dedication truly made a huge difference in my learning, and I highly recommend him. Because of him, I genuinely feel more confident going into ECE35 and I'm so thankful for all the time and effort that he put into helping me learn.
