Hi, my name is Joe and it is my personal mission to make learning easier for you so we can reach your academic goals!
I have been tutoring for over 12 years with about 10,000 hours in private tutoring and small group settings. I have taught math subjects (Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Precalculus, Calculus) to over 200 students from 6th to 12th grade and also helped them excel on the SAT, ACT, and various AP exams (Biology and Chemistry). In high school, I scored a 5 on the AP Calculus AB and BC exams and 800 on SAT Math. In 2009, I graduated from UC San Diego with a General Biology degree while receiving A’s in college-level biology, physics, chemistry, and organic chemistry courses.
I’ve always had a passion for teaching and helping students grow. Nothing brings me more joy when things finally click for students and the light bulb switches on in their minds. It is why I refined my lessons and explanations over the years so they are proven to work. However, I also understand that not every student learns the same way or at the same pace, so I am able to tailor my lessons to suit the student’s learning style and abilities. Because of my patience and teaching style, students who begin classes with me often remain with me for multiple years.
One of my teaching methods is not to reveal the solution right away but rather, to guide the student along and discover it together. By doing so, this gives students the confidence to work out the solutions for themselves later on so they’re able to score higher on future tests. Also, I know math is not just all about numbers! I will often use visuals and graphing tools to illustrate more difficult ideas.
