Hello, and welcome to my page. I graduated from University of California - Davis in 2023 with a degree in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior. During my time at UCD, I interned in a 2nd grade classroom and learned the science of educational psychology. Hello, and welcome to my page. I graduated from University of California - Davis in 2023 with a degree in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior. During my time at UCD, I interned in a 2nd grade classroom and learned the science of educational psychology. By the end of 2023, I was teaching in a 5th grade science classroom consisting of students from 9-10 years old. I taught at this school for 3 years as I worked to complete my teaching credential. I am currently student teaching in a freshman biology class with students from 14-15 years old. I am grateful for my experiences as they have given me insight into the educational needs across these ages and a platform to apply pedagogical tools. As I continue to work towards my California teaching credential, I wanted to start tutoring to share my love for critical thinking with your student/yourself while perhaps learning some science or math along the way. I have experience in upper division biology courses with a focus on organisms and environmental interactions. My expertise lies primarily in ecology and animal behavior, and I have experience studying human physiology and neurobiology.

I have worked with other scientists to understand the complex relationships between humans and our environment. With previous experience in undergraduate ecology classes, I am confident that I can guide students towards expertise in ecology.

I have helped students improve their math proficiency through focused intervention strategies, such as practicing data representation and decoding word problems. Students that I have had the opportunity to support have increased their math profienciency by a grade level as evidenced in their iReady diagnostic scores. Additionally, these students felt confident as lessons continued with me and developed the critical thinking skills to succeed in their core math class.

I have previously taught 5th grade science following the UC Regents Amplify curriculum. I would prepare labs, create scaffolds to learning, and follow Universal Design for Learning in my classroom.

Casandra is a great tutor! She was very well-prepared and explained everything at a level that Ally could easily understand. Ally really enjoyed the session and felt comfortable working with her.
