I’m currently a senior at Cal Poly Humboldt, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Elementary Education. My academic journey began with an Associate’s degree in Child Development, which laid a strong foundation for my passion in early childhood education. Throughout my studies, I’ve maintained a 3.8 GPA and have been honored as a Presidential Scholar.

In addition to my coursework, I’ve completed over 100 hours of fieldwork aligned with my program’s classes, providing me with hands-on experience in elementary classrooms. I also hold a Child Development Teacher Permit, authorizing me to provide service in the care, development, and instruction of children in a child care and development program, and supervise a CDP Associate Teacher, a CDP Assistant, and an aide. After graduating this year, I plan to pursue both a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and a Special Education Credential to further my qualifications and continue my commitment to inclusive education.

My experience in early childhood education spans several years and diverse settings. I began by babysitting at the age of 16, which sparked my interest in child development. Subsequently, I worked as an assistant at a daycare, engaging with children aged 1 to 5, and later led a class of five two-year-olds, where I was responsible for planning and implementing daily activities.

During my recent fieldwork, I had the opportunity to work in a kindergarten classroom, assisting the teacher and providing one-on-one support to students, including those with behavioral challenges. These experiences have honed my skills in creating inclusive learning environments and adapting teaching methods to meet individual needs. My approach is centered on patience, empathy, and fostering a safe space where young learners can thrive. I’m particularly passionate about working with students in grades K–2, where I can contribute to their foundational learning experiences.

Additionally, my 100+ hours of fieldwork in K–2 classrooms have allowed me to apply these standards in real-world settings, designing and delivering lessons that meet CCSS benchmarks.
