Hello,

I’m Alex, a PhD graduate in atmospheric sciences and currently a postdoctoral researcher working with the U.S. Navy. I have over six years of tutoring and teaching experience, working with students ranging from elementary school through college undergraduates, including both traditional and non-traditional learners. My teaching experience spans mathematics, coding, and meteorology-related coursework.

My professional work involves applied atmospheric science and computational methods, and I bring that same analytical and problem-solving perspective into my tutoring. I focus on helping students not just learn formulas or procedures, but understand the structure and reasoning behind them so they can build long-term confidence and independence.

I’ve found that many students struggle not because the material is inherently inaccessible, but because it’s often presented without clear intuition or connection to real-world meaning. My goal is to bridge that gap by breaking down complex ideas into clear, structured steps and adapting explanations to each student’s learning style.

My tutoring approach is interactive and student-focused. I work through problems collaboratively, then guide students as they practice independently so we can identify and address gaps in understanding. I tailor each session to the student’s goals—whether that means strengthening fundamentals, preparing for exams, or tackling advanced coursework.

Whether you’re working through calculus, learning programming, or trying to understand atmospheric processes, I aim to provide clear, structured, and effective support.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions or to schedule a session. I respond promptly and look forward to helping you achieve your academic goals.

Warm regards,
Alex

Approved Subjects

Earth Science

Earth Science

I hold a PhD in Atmospheric Science and currently work as a postdoctoral researcher with the U.S. Navy, where I conduct research on weather systems and numerical weather prediction. My background includes extensive coursework and research in meteorology, climatology, atmospheric dynamics, Earth system science, and environmental processes. With over six years of tutoring and teaching experience, I enjoy helping students build a strong conceptual understanding of Earth science while connecting classroom topics to real-world weather, climate, and geological phenomena.
Python

Python

I have assisted and taught lectures in undergraduate courses that incorporate the fundamentals of Python coding. I also use Python as a primary coding language within my ongoing doctoral research as well. My experience with Python is used in combination with many other coding languages such as Matlab and R.
