I am a young professional with a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from UCLA. I have tutored on and off for over 6 years, usually through a mutual friend or relative of the student. I anticipate the opportunity to put my skills to use in a more professional tutoring environment.
I love tutoring for the spiritual fullness it creates. I feel that I have given back to the community by going out of my way to help others. Also, I enjoy having a job that gravitates around one of my chief interests: chemistry. My students and their parents alike have universally admired my positive spirit, calm nature, and comprehensive knowledge of the hard sciences.
I am passionate about chemistry. I absolutely love it. I obtained my degree in Biochemistry from UCLA in December 2013, and I have a thorough knowledge of the fundamentals of biology and chemistry at both the high school and college levels. I tutored freelance in 2014 for a high school student, and he aced every single one of his exams.
I have been diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome myself, so I understand the unique trials and tribulations of living with it firsthand. I have worked with an Asperger's student in the past, and my relaxed and patient demeanor worked wonders to keep him calm and focused.
Please feel free to contact me to plan or schedule tutoring sessions. I check my email multiple times a day, so expect a nice, quick reply. I'm looking forward to hearing from you! Brett taught me concepts about acids, bases, buffers, and titration curves. I learned a lot of information within an hour and a half. I would recommend Brett's tutoring practices to anyone that needs help with General Chemistry.
My son was able to understand the subject matter in just one tutor session. Brett did a very good job explaining it to him. The only downside was we were not able to get a full hour as we started around 10 mins later and had to end a few minutes before the hour as the library was closing.
Brett is a very sharp guy. He arrived early and provided a lot of help within a short period of time. We working on several chemistry homework problems and he helped me understand the concepts quite well. He's a very personable and enthusiastic tutor.
Brett was very good at explaining what I don't understand. He explained the concepts in a way that made sense to me. I will definitely use him as a tutor again in the future.
Bio honors tutoring. Brett has done a great job explaining the material to my son so that he can improve his grade. He's a very patient and helpful tutor. We would definitely recommend him!
He is very efficient, punctual/on time and an excellent tutor. His explanation is logical and my daughter can understand it. We are very happy about the last test which my daughter scored 96 out of 100. He is very smart and knows what he is doing very well.
My daughter and Brett covered a lot of ground and she seems more confident ahead of her test tomorrow.
Brett helped my daughter understand difficult chemistry concepts that she could not absorb during her one hour class in school. He's very patient and incredibly smart.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I got straight A's in my high school and college biology courses. I have a thorough understanding of the subject and a passion for its complexity and elegance.
I have been fascinated by chemistry as long as I can remember. I completed high school and college inorganic and organic chemistry with grades at or near the top of my class. I have a BS in Biochemistry from UCLA.
