University of Phoenix
I am a mother of two and I have a love of numbers. In Junior High and High School I excelled in all my math classes. I have also excelled in all of my college math classes. I am currently enrolled at the University of Phoenix and I am studying to become a Medical Administrator.
I have always loved helping people who did not understand math or just needed help with equations. In tutoring I will be using flash cards for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. If the student is having trouble in a specific area then that area is where we will be covering the most until the student understands. Being a military veteran I was taught to write numbers clearly and neatly so that people could better understand what I was writing and that is also what I will be teaching to the student. Most of the time I see that the reason why a student does not understand what they are learning is because they cannot read it clearly. Another method I will be using is drawings and pictures in the learning process.
If there is also a method that the student is wanting to try that helps them learn I will be willing to do that as well. It is important to me that the student is comfortable and likes the way they are learning. Math is a wonderful thing and it is always with us, it is very important that everyone has knowledge in math so that they may excel in the future. I am a mother of two and I have a love of numbers. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
