Hello, I'm Aric! I am a freelance trumpet player, and teacher.

I am a graduate of the Eastman School of Music, and am currently pursuing a masters degree in Classical Trumpet Performance from the University of California Los Angeles.
As a performer I have experience in every genre possible, including performances with orchestras, wind ensembles, mixed brass ensembles, early music ensembles, jazz bands, jazz combos, and new music ensembles. As a soloist I have been invited to compete in the Music National Teachers association Young Artist Brass Finals, the National Trumpet Competition, and the Jeju International Brass and Percussion competition.
In addition to my experience as a performer I was also thoroughly trained in music theory, ear training, and music history while studying at Eastman.
I have been teaching trumpet lessons privately for the last 8 years. Despite the incredible experiences I’ve had as a performer, teaching has always been the most fulfilling part of my career! Witnessing my students learn and improve gives me a source of inspiration that nothing else can even compare to.
My teaching style is highly customized. All of the decisions I make as a teacher are informed by the personality of who it is I am working with. The most crucial part of my job is learning how each one of my students most effectively learns, and using that to help them meet their potential in the most efficient way possible.

I look forward to meeting you, and helping you accomplish your goals!

I am an outstanding teacher because the trumpet never came naturally to me. I had to develop not only a strong work ethic, but a smart one too. I have dealt with every problem imaginable that comes with playing a brass instrument. Through constant dedicated, and systematic work, I have been able to accomplish my greatest dream ever of being a professional trumpet player and teacher. The struggles I have gone through with my playing career are why I care so much about the well being, and growth of every one of my studen

Composition (Music)

Composition (Music)

As a Los Angeles based artist I began composing to increase the opportunities available to me. Since beginning my journey as a composer I have scored multiple short films with filmmakers in Los Angeles, and am currently preparing to score my first feature film, as well as composing an album for jazz combo.
Ear Training

Ear Training

While studying at the Eastman School of Music, I was required to take several intense courses revolving around Ear training, and music theory. The topics covered include, but are not limited to transcription tactics, solfege mastery, sight singing, transposition, intonation, and improvisation,
Film

Film

I have created multiple projects on my own. Most recently, I wrote, directed, produced, edited, and acted in my proof of concept short “Of all Vices” which will be submitted to all major film festivals. This coming summer I’ll be filming a feature that I’m producing, staring in, and wrote.
French Horn

French Horn

As a freelance brass teacher I am able to work with trumpet and french horn players of any level. My teaching style involves catering to each student I have on a specialised, individual basis.
General Music

General Music

I have been a music educator for over ten years now. The experience I have with children as young as 5, and adults as old as 55 allows me to cater the way I teach to any student I work with.
Music History

Music History

While studying at the Eastman School of music I was required to take 3 semesters of music history, as well as a one semester history elective of my choice. This led to taking classes revolving around all classical music from the 1400's to music from the last decade, as well as a jazz history course.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

As a professional performer, and educator, I have spent the last decade engaging with crowds. Through my experiences as a musician, and actor, I have learned the importance of outreach and communication. I would love to share the skills I’ve learned with anyone looking to increase their comfort, clarity, and ability to communicate with crowds.
Sight Singing

Sight Singing

During my time at the Eastman School of Music, sight signing was a mandatory part of our aural skills curriculum. The emphasis placed on sight singing allowed me to take a seemingly difficult musical task, and slowly move it to the subconscious place it needs to be in order to focus on the self expression music lends itself to.
Theater

Theater

My skills come from my versatility. As a multi hyphenate, I am able to take what I have learned from the writing, directing, and producing side of theater and apply those lessons to myself as an actor. This versatility proved vital while filming my proof of concept short “Of all Vices” and will carry me into a production of A Comedy of Errors that I am directing and acting in.
Trombone

Trombone

I have been a musical educator for over a decade now. I currently am a 4th and 5th grade trumpet teacher at an elementary school, as well as a brass sectional coach for a middle school. My teaching philosophy centers around valuing steady incremental progress, curiosity, and positive reinforcement.
