Bio

I am a professional composer, pianist, and educator that has 14 years of teaching experience. My private students went to win International Competitions and performed in Carnegie Hall.

My number one job is to make sure that you see and believe in your own potential and to create the right path for your success. Together, we will develop your very own sound, whether it is in your composition, your improvisation and in your own piano playing.

I love it when my students open their eyes so BIG, the moment they realize they've just accomplished something they never thought possible. Whether it is to play "Chopin Etude", Improvise on "Giant Steps", or writing a full orchestral score.

As a piano teacher with a composition, classical, and jazz background, I design my lesson to best fit YOUR ability, goals and help you to achieve them in such an easy and enjoyable way. You will develop great confidence in your piano playing and in your composition. Because of the incremental progress that you'll see immediately in every session.

I love to inspire my students with Fascinating next steps in their musical journey while maintaining discipline in the students' thrive to Mastery.

My composition has been featured in NETFLIX, BBC(British Broadcasting Company), PBS Masterpiece, among others, and has been featured in TV shows such as Poldark and The Affair, among others. In addition to that, my composition is distributed by APM Music, EMI, MPATH, and Alvani Tunes.

Besides my studio works, I also play for different regional and international artists in the studio setting as well as on stage and in Los Angeles venues. I have been a music director and has shared the stage with some International artists in Los Angeles such as Abraham Laboriel, Tommy Walker, Lea Simanjuntak, Katia Moraes, Junkie Munkie, Pongky Barata, Sophie Navita, Inul Daratista, Nia Daniaty, Hetty Koes Endang, Yosi Mokalu Project Pop, and Harvey Malaiholo among others.

I graduated from Shepherd University in Film Scoring and Jazz Performance. My compositions have been featured in NETFLIX, BBC(British Broadcasting Company), PBS Masterpiece, The One Show, and Sport Fishing Television among others. And my composition is currently being distributed by APM Music, EMI, MPATH, and Alvani Tunes. I worked under an established Film Composer Michael A. Levine and assisting him with projects such as The SIREN(TV Show) among others.

I graduated from Shepherd University majoring in Piano Jazz Performance and Film Scoring. In Classical Piano - I have a deep understanding and extensive teaching experience in Classical Repertoires, such as music by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Liszt, Chopin, and Prokofiev among others. my current students went to win American Protégé International Competition and were invited to perform at Carnegie Hall. In Jazz Piano - I am a Teaching Assistant at Los Angeles College of Music on Jazz Piano. I have a deep understanding and extensive teaching experience in developing improvisational skill, techniques and repertoires.

So much more than a teacher, A great mentor and inspiration.

I've always been disappointed and frustrated with piano teachers, no connection, no direction and promises that couldn't be fulfilled. Yakub understood every idea and direction I wanted to take. He relates and knows so many aspects of music and know exactly how to get me where i want to be. By very very far the best teacher I've ever had. I highly recommend him. I'd give him 8 stars if I could.

Finally found the right teacher

I studied piano many years ago, but was interested in learning jazz. In the past many years, I have studied with three different teachers who were excellent musicians, but could not communicate in a way I could learn. Yakub is amazing. He had me playing jazz progressions and improvising from the beginning! He clearly understands learners, and challenges and encourages them at the same time. It's not easy, but with practice I can see that I am improving! I feel fortunate to be working with such a talented musician and patient and experienced teacher.
