I have 3 years of experience as a teaching artist as well as certification. Although my current work focuses on mold-making and sculpture, I was trained in a style of drawing and painting which comes from the French old master tradition. This style of painting and drawing is recursive, in that, one can continually refine details without being trapped by the first few layers. Broad strokes and fluid beginnings allow the richness to be built up over time the way tradition intended. Today's painting and drawing courses are cursory and vacuous compared to the unctuous beauty of our old masters. Students begin using a very specific type of charcoal and paper which allows their drawing experience to parallel the painting process directly. The first lessons should focus on drawing until the student understands the process adequately.
When students complete their training in drawing, painting can begin. Value (the range of lights and darks within a painting within a given color scheme) is prepared in a painstaking process of patience in order to increase the richness of each representation.
I am proficient in most Adobe Suite software including Photoshop, Premiere, Dreamweaver, and Illustrator. I have studied art history from Gothic and Renaissance Art to Contemporary art theory. My specialty is in painting and drawing.
Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.
