Hello, students! I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in English from Mount Saint Mary's University. I went on to pursue a Master's degree in Educational Counseling at the University of Southern California and a second Master's degree in English from Bridgewater State University. While pursuing my Bachelor's degree, I realized I very much enjoy working with students and helping them meet their academic potential.
I have years of experience tutoring in English subject topics, including literature, writing, grammar, and editing/proofreading. I am currently an instructional assistant at Santa Monica College in Santa Monica, CA. One of my favorite things about tutoring is helping students understand that they will always have potential if they put in effort. Based on my experience, I have noticed that many students second-guess their writing abilities and believe they can never write good papers; this is not the case. It is important to encourage students to believe that that can improve their work. A growth mindset is necessary to improve in not just academics, but anything one wants to achieve in life.
I am great at what I do because I know what it's like to be a student who may be struggling with a particular subject, which makes me patient. Patience is key when working with students, and students can count on me to go at a steady pace that will benefit them and their improvement. My craft is English subject topics. Literary analysis is one of my specialties and something I enjoy doing with the students I tutor. When I proofread and go over grammar with students, not only do we make the corrections together, but I explain why the corrections are needed.
I am very fun to work with and personable! I will always briefly inquire about students' days and well-being before jumping into tutoring.
