About Sarmad

Bio

I've worked as an aerospace engineer full time for over five years now. I started off working as a Modeling and Simulation Engineer contractor for NASA in Huntsville, Alabama, where I worked on the Space Launch System rocket (expected to launch soon!). I recently moved to California, first to work at a private drone manufacturer, where I designed and built all types of autonomous aircraft for military, agricultural, and commercial applications, and now more recently to a New Space rocket...

I've worked as an aerospace engineer full time for over five years now. I started off working as a Modeling and Simulation Engineer contractor for NASA in Huntsville, Alabama, where I worked on the Space Launch System rocket (expected to launch soon!). I recently moved to California, first to work at a private drone manufacturer, where I designed and built all types of autonomous aircraft for military, agricultural, and commercial applications, and now more recently to a New Space rocket company.

I received my Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering and Physics from the University of Miami, and my Masters of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Florida. Even though I work full time as an engineer, I have always found great joy and fulfillment in sharing my knowledge with others, whether that be through tutoring in high school and college or working as a TA throughout grad school. My priority in tutoring is always to ensure the student understands the basic concepts and implications of the material, so that they can succeed in both their current and future academic and life endeavors. My tutoring focus is primarily about my favorite subjects: math, physics, and engineering courses. When I'm not working, you can find me at your nearest basketball court running games, or online competing in the most popular video games.

I tutor primarily online, as this helps me connect with a wide range of students from all over the world. However, I do offer some limited in-person tutoring in the North Los Angeles area. I'm free most weeknight evenings and most weekends.

I understand that life is unpredictable, and that every student is unique, and therefore I'm very flexible with both scheduling/cancellations, and in my tutoring approach. Feel free to reach out to me if you'd like to schedule a tutoring session. If anything ever comes up, just let me know and it won't be a problem. I look forward to working with you.

C++

C++

I've been using C++ in school and at work for years now. As an Aerospace Engineer who develops autopilots for autonomous aircraft, C++ is a must, and I use it every day. I develop object-oriented flight software systems that fly aircraft in use today.
Computer Science

Computer Science

From my day job and hobbies, I've been exposed to many Computer Science topics. As a programmer in Python, C/C++ and other languages, I have a strong programming skillset. As a Controls Engineer for UAVs, I've worked on embedded software systems running in real time on flight hardware. For fun and for work, I've developed fully object-oriented Aerospace dynamics simulations, data analysis and management systems, and libraries for connecting to and working with web APIs.
Electrical Engineering

Electrical Engineering

I have a BS and an MS in Aerospace Engineering, and have been working full-time in this field for almost 4 years. My experience is in both Spaceflight (I worked as a contractor at NASA on the SLS rocket) and in Aviation (I currently build Unmanned Aerial Systems, aka drones). While Aerospace Engineering is not exactly the same as Electrical Engineering, they're closely related, and especially in my specialty: Control Systems.
MATLAB

MATLAB

I've been using MATLAB heavily since 2011, when I was still an undergraduate engineering student. I have published papers with analysis completely done in MATLAB. I've used MATLAB and Simulink daily at work for 4 years for Aerospace Modeling, Simulation, and Control Systems Design.
Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering

I have a BS and an MS in Aerospace Engineering, and have been working full-time in this field for almost 4 years. My experience is in both Spaceflight (I worked as a contractor at NASA on the SLS rocket) and in Aviation (I currently build Unmanned Aerial Systems, aka drones). While Aerospace Engineering is not exactly the same as Mechanical Engineering, they're closely related with very similar coursework and job duties.
Python

Python

I've been using Python for about 5 years now. It's my favorite programming language due to its ease of use and flexibility, and I believe it's a great beginner language for anyone. I've used Python to develop fully object-oriented Aerospace dynamics simulations, data analysis and management systems, and libraries for connecting to and working with web APIs.

Ssuper knowledgeable and patient tutor

Sarmad is an incredibly knowledgable & kind tutor. I am taking a course that requires background in computational psychology, python, and programming plots in jupyter - Sarmad was able to quickly understand ALL of the aspects of my assignment and help me with it from start to finish. I am a complete beginner in coding and he has already taught me so much in just a few tutoring sessions. I am a bit of a slow learner when it comes to programming so I really appreciated that he gladly repeated concepts I didn't understand and would try to explain them in different ways if they didn't make sense the first time. He also wrote super detailed notes that I can reference back to. I feel so relieved to have found an awesome tutor to help me with this daunting class. I highly recommend him for your programming/math/plotting needs!

Knowledgeable and patient

Helped with the concept and execution of the programs. Definitely knows his codes. Was able to grasp the information easily. We took a bit longer than I anticipated but thats cause it was a heaby workload. Definitely do not mind paying extra.

Superb tutor!

Sarmad was truly worth every cent. He took a concept which had me completely lost, broke it down then built it up to ensure understanding. As an educator, I know the art of explanation and I can tell you that this guy is very knowledgeable and thorough.
