Hi, I'm a professional tutor and teacher with over 15 years of experience. I love to help students improve, and I teach all sections of the standardized tests (SAT, ACT, GMAT, etc), as well as tutor physics and teach essay writing.
I graduated from the University of Virginia with a double-major in mechanical engineering and cognitive science (psychology). Since college, I've worked as a high-school technology teacher and as a teacher and tutor for the SAT and ACT reading, writing, math, and science sections at centers in Washington DC, Los Angeles and even Korea. I’ve also worked as a professional writer, so I have years of experience both as an educator and with all the content areas.
My teaching style is positive and relaxed, and I work with students to build their confidence and comfort with the material. I especially work to find the strategies and approaches that are best for each person. Instead of one-size-fits-all approaches, I think tutoring should be tailored to each individual, and because of that, I've been able to help hundreds of students at all score ranges and with very different learning styles improve their scores dramatically. My favorite calls and texts are from excited students or parents after they get their new scores and see the improvements they'd hoped were possible.
