I hold an MFA from Yale University (2019) and a BFA from The School of The Art Institute of Chicago (2012). I have experience teaching at a university level and also worked Yale Admissions, giving me the exact information of what the top art schools are looking for.
Applying for Art School can be very daunting and overwhelming. I'm here to guide you through the entire process of applying, including advice on schools, editing and review of artworks, guidance on artist statement and any required writing as well as advice on how to best document your work. I offer hourly or bulk pricing, depending on how many sessions are required.
Roughly this is what I would propose (it will be tailored to each student individually).
Review all existing artwork and schools interested in. We will review and lay out timelines / deadlines / requirements for each school. Depending on the state of current work and requirements of each specific school - we will create a core group of works that will be used for each portfolio (12-20). I will offer guidance on best ways to document / photograph the work. Review artist statement and any required writing and offer rounds of feedback. Review titles and captions, making sure everything is formatted correctly and streamline, and help with editing any other writing that may be required. If references or letters of recommendation are needed, we will brainstorm and reach out to contacts. Final portfolio review - gather all materials carefully, making sure we have fulfilled all requirements and that everything is submitted and perfectly formatted before applying to all schools.
Each school has very different requirements and it is imperative that no mistakes are made when applying, otherwise you risk having your application rejected.
