Hi, my name is Cameron! I graduated from the University of Southern California with a B.S. in Business Administration and a B.A. in Theatre.
Some subjects I specialize in are Algebra I, Algebra II, Literacy (English), and Spanish. I took AP Spanish in high school and lived in Spain with a host family for a month which further immersed myself into the language. Before I traveled to Spain, I received a bronze medal in the National Spanish Examination and was named Best Spanish Student at my school.
Prior to tutoring in college, I tutored children at the local community center near my high school. We primarily would work on math and reading. I recall an instance when one student, who was not fluent in English, was not understanding a concept because of how it was phrased in English. I used my Spanish tools to explain the concept in Spanish and, just like that, everything became clear. Although we were not working on Spanish, I was able to help him understand the vocabulary by using his native tongue. Another example is when I was tutoring a different student and was presenting material that was well beyond his years and he was still able to understand it. The reason why is because I was able to make it more relatable to his life, so he did not look at it as an ordinary math problem, but a life problem. I was able to help the student realize his full potential by challenging him with a concept that he never thought he would be able to do.
I love to work with ambitious students who are excited to learn. Additionally, I will always strive to help students find their individual appreciation and motivation for the subjects they may be struggling with.
My favorite thing is to see students succeed and enjoy learning for the sake of learning. I look forward to working with you!
