Bio

I have been preparing students for the Digital SAT since Fall 2024. I got a student to 800 in March 2025. But I've gotten 2 students to a 36 in the ACT in 2026, and it's a much better (arguably easier) test. If you don't have a specific reason to choose the SAT, I encourage you to consider the ACT! I also took the SAT for research Aug 2026, scoring 760/800.

I also took the SAT for research Aug 2026, scoring 760/800.

Reading and writing are my jam. Back in high school, I earned a perfect score on the Reading of the ACT on my first attempt. I can help you raise your score on the Verbal Section of the SAT, ACT, SSAT, ISEE, HSPT, or COOP.

I’ve worked 20-30 hrs/wk teaching test prep since 2016. I teach students specific tips & techniques to reduce their cognitive load while improving speed & accuracy. I identify skill gaps and provide resources to build them up. And I teach the SAT patterns & traps to be on the look out for.

In addition, I often work with students grade 4-12 to improve their reading and writing skills. I frequently prepare ESL students & others for AP Lang/Lit.

I also have hundreds of hours of experience working with students with ADHD and Autism & advanced training in teaching these students. I have helped them achieve their academic goals, going from the bottom 10 to the top 10% of their class, by understanding the unique way their brains work.

I earned a BA in Theatre from BYU and an MFA in Acting from UNLV in Las Vegas, and I also work as an actor and director. As a result, I have spent years honing my verbal communications skills, which means I am able to communicate in a way students can easily understand. I am an engaging tutor that students look forward to seeing.

Reading and language are truly my first love. When I was in 6th grade, I read a 200 page book every day (what can I say, I was super popular!) My years of obsessive reading & writing have perfectly positioned me to help you improve your skills. Reach out today--I'd love to help!

Exceptional Tutor with Proven Results

We are very grateful to Sarah for helping my son prepare for the SAT Reading section. His Reading score improved from 690 to an excellent 780 after working with Sarah. Sarah was knowledgeable, patient, and very effective at identifying my son’s weaknesses and helping him develop effective strategies. We truly appreciate the time and effort she invested in his preparation. I would highly recommend Sarah to any student looking to improve their SAT Reading score.

SAT R/W Master!

Our daughter's SAT R/W skills and confidence have grown so much since working with Sarah! My daughter had a solid general foundation, but with Sarah's help, she was able to identify target areas that needed more attention, along with how to gain a level of mastery. After a few focused lessons, her R/W practice test score jumped up 100 points! Sarah is incredibly patient and thorough. She is always on time, communicates clearly, and provides a great follow-up report after every single session so we know exactly what to practice each day. Sarah truly is an SAT master, and we highly recommend her!

Knowledgeable tutor able to identify roadblocks.

With Sarah's help, my 10th grader finally turned a corner in his ELA class! After the Thursday class with Sarah, he immediately turned to me and said it's actually helpful! He gained a new understanding on how to organize the paragraph to meet the teacher's requirements, he can now pick out concrete supporting details to add to the pre-writing. Sarah also showed him how he could use the Internet Archive Library to temporarily check out a PDF of the text, and than search it for key words related to his argument. Sarah took the time to discussed the various options for supporting evidence, and which ones were strongest, and which paragraph they optimally belong in. Thanks to Sarah, he's finally able to pin point where he is having difficulty and getting good help to fix it. I can see that he himself is encouraged by his progress. Tremendous!

Fantastic Experience and Results!

We have used Sarah to help prep my junior daughter for the ACT. The initial tutoring focused on the English section and the results were amazing (9 point swing well into the 30's!). We have continued to use Sarah to assist in reading and science and the progress continues to be amazing. She is patient while still challenging and motivating her students and brings out the best. I cannot recommend Sarah enough!
