I grew up in northern New Jersey, graduated from Regis High School in New York City, received my BA summa cum laude in Classics from Princeton (1997) and my MA in Classical Philology from Harvard (2005). In addition, I studied for two summers (1994, 1997) in Rome with Reginald Foster, the former Latin translator for three Popes--so I have some experience with Latin as a living, spoken language. I have also experimented with Ancient Greek as a spoken language.

In addition, I studied for two summers (1994, 1997) in Rome with Reginald Foster, the former Latin translator for three Popes--so I have some experience with Latin as a living, spoken language. I have also experimented with Ancient Greek as a spoken language.
In addition to teaching Latin and Greek to undergraduates as a graduate student at Harvard, I taught Latin and Greek at Middlesex Academy in Concord, MA in 2008-2009. After Boston, I lived in Minneapolis for 10 years, where I taught Latin, Greek, and ancient history at Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Olaf College, and Minnehaha Academy. For the last seven years I've lived in Los Angeles, where I taught Latin at Chaminade College Preparatory High School in 2021-2024.
I also have extensive experience tutoring online: during the last 10 years, I have spent hundreds of hours teaching Latin, Greek, mythology, and ancient history remotely to middle schoolers, high schoolers, and adults.
I have been studying Latin for 35+ years and Greek for 30+ years. I come from a family of teachers, and started tutoring younger students in Latin from my sophomore year in high school. I am a real philologist--a lover of words--and I communicate that love to my students. If you want to work with the best, and you want to be the best, I would love to work with you!
