Bio

I hold an active, clear CA teaching credential in English and have worked in education for 20 years. While I have held various titles in education, I have scaled down special projects and contract work so that I can take on a few additional clients.

I hold an active, clear CA teaching credential in English and have worked in education for 20 years. While I have held various titles in education, I have scaled down special projects and contract work so that I can take on a few additional clients.
While living in England and studying Shakespeare, I was hired by an edutainment film company to write scripts and build multi-educational CDROMs intended for undergraduate study.
I then began working as an ELA teacher for four years at La Canada High School, CA. Due to my success with ELL students and CLAD certification, I was offered to head and continue to develop the ELL program for the entire district.
Living on the east coast, I worked for Maryland public school system to promote rich curriculum in meaningful lessons, relevant assessment, and effective learning strategies. I created lessons to enhance writing/reading comprehension. The lessons then became models to aid in improving student academic achievement district-wide. Not only a classroom teacher, I was also an English Mentor, teaching staff to improve instruction. I was also nominated by the staff as the PLC and SIT leader for the County.
Once I returned to CA, I was offered a job as a High School Principal, administering all IEPs, overseeing community-building projects, and guiding the instructional staff. This role gave me the opportunity to share my skills in curriculum and policy-building to help the nonprofit school become accredited.
Most recently, I was contracted remotely as an Instructional Designer, creating a national curriculum for Job Corps. I built 60 lessons aligned with Common Core for adult students (16-24 yrs). I incorporated digital platforms, constructed assessments, and trained teacher's across the country.
I have found much success in one-on-one instruction. I bring my passion for travel, a sense of humor, and love of voiceover acting to my work. By tapping into our own particular creativity, I believe we offer a more rounded, authentic, and engaging experience to students.
