Bio

If you need someone who can help students bridge the gap between academic aspiration and true achievement, then please consider me as a tutor. I am passionate about working with students of all grade levels.

I think today's students are more responsive to learning environments that are immersive rather then passive and the best education programs consistently live up to this Chinese proverb: "Tell me, and I'll forget. Show me, and I might remember. Involve me, and I understand."

I gear my sessions in this way. Students are made to feel engaged in the material
with questioning and a keen understanding on my part of their learning temperament. We process the study problems together, step by step. They gradually gain confidence in taking ownership of the schooling process, with the realization that they have the power to advance their own abilities putting them on a path of learning self-sufficiency.

I have tutored students from the fourth through the 12th grade with my experience spanning five years. Most students I have helped have been in the math subjects ranging from Arithmetic to Algebra 2, but I have also tutored students in World & U.S. History, English, and Philosophy.

It is a big thrill for me when students report back about higher scores from recently taken tests. It is validation for the progress that they make from session to session all the while embracing proper study habits. This is what drives my enthusiasm for helping students and I am hopeful that these are the kinds of qualities you are looking for in a tutor.

Thank you for your consideration.

Elementary Math

Elementary Math

I know that Math can be a difficult subject to master. Students are often confronted with a subject that challenges them with a new way of thinking. If they struggle with Math, their confidence and desire to pursue mastery may diminish. I can reverse that situation as I have done successfully with other students.
Film

Film

Film major graduate from Loyola Marymount University. As a director, writer and producer, my short film was a finalist in Student Academy Awards and appeared in other film festivals around the world.

I have helped many people master the basics of setting up a personal desktop computer/laptop or tablet including hardware, software as well as networking and Internet. In a smll space of time, you'll be enjoying all the benefits that this technology has to offer.
Philosophy

Philosophy

Having studied Philosophy for a Minor in college, I know first hand what a challenge it can be to students new to this subject. They are confronted with new ideas often expressed in an abstract manner. These can be difficult to keep track of and to understand the differences of each. I have helped students with this as well as making Philosophy a subject less intimidating to study but one that they will feel encouraged to move forward in.
Religion

Religion

While concerned with ritual and history, the study of religion has it's basis in the study of philosophy. Having studied Philosophy for a Minor in college, I know first hand what a challenge it can be to students exploring the ideology of different religions. They are confronted with new ideas often expressed in an abstract manner. These can be difficult to keep track of and to understand the differences of each and of each religion. I have helped students with this as well as making Religion a subject less intimidating to study but one that they will feel encouraged to move forward in.
