I've also had experience in stand-up comedy clubs, television sound stages and voice over recording studios. I'm available for tutoring in the nuances of Voiceover Acting, Film Acting, Monologue Performance, Stand-Up Comedy and Joke Writing.

From an early age my father distilled a solid work ethic and stellar study habits in me. As far back as middle school I was required to wear a coat & tie every day and say "Yes Sir & Yes Ma'am". My schooling's taught me not only great academia but great life lessons as well. I'm compassionate, motivated and committed to providing students with the inspiration and tools s/he needs to make it through with flying colors!

Drawing

Drawing

I grew up drawing and illustrating for newspapers and yearbooks in both high school and college. After earning my B.A., I took several advanced courses at the Art Center College of Design & the American Animation Institute from renowned teachers like Karl Gnass (the resident Life Drawing guru for Dreamworks and Disney cartoonists.) My training included Storyboarding, comic strip evolution, life drawings & oil painting.
Elementary (K-6th)

Elementary (K-6th)

My current day job is substitute teacher for Glendale Unified School District ~ mainly Elementary Schools. Previously, I worked for Teachers On Reserve (subbing) & Academic Advantage (tutoring Math & English) to mainly 3rd thru 6th graders. I also have a son in the 5th grade and assist him with his challenging Common Core homework. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree from Tulane University in New Orleans.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

Starting at age fifteen, I went to Toastmasters meetings with my father and participated in multiple impromptu short speeches. I took Public Speaking in college and received an 'A'. I ran for public office about two years ago and had to give both rehearsed and impromptu speeches in multiple forums and sometimes live local television. I've also performed Stand-Up comedy on and off through the years. More recently I'm employed part time as a Substitute Teacher where much of my job is speaking to the class. I'm very comfortable with public speaking and have a flair for it.
Songwriting

Songwriting

I studied rhythm guitar & music theory for about ten years and worked in nightclubs for about 5 years singing & playing guitar. I've written about 100 original songs and put 10 of those on a cd. My songwriting methods are various. Sometimes it comes from thinking up a song title or a phrase. Often it comes from thinking up a nice melodic hook then - using basic guitar chords - building a whole song around it: Verse, Chorus, Bridge and even the Intro & Tag.
Study Skills

Study Skills

My father learned how to study from observing the habits of his A+ classmates in medical school then eventually surpassed them in grades. I used the same game plan while studying for all my prep school exams and always got through with flying colors. I’ll show your child those same proven formula study tricks, short cuts and repetition cramming techniques. I’ll emphasize tackling the toughest subjects first and explain why Teacher’s Notes are often more relevant than the text! I’ll help with time-management tricks then organize/ outline a practical goal-oriented strategy to ace their exam.
Theater

Theater

I have a Bachelor of Arts Theatre degree from Tulane University. Besides Shakespearian stage acting, required courses included History of Theatre, Theatre Tech, Directing and Advanced Public Speaking. I've also been classically trained in Voice. I designed/ taught a Children's Summer Acting Camp at several local YMCA's and sometimes teach Theatre at local middle & high schools.
