I have a MA in Peace and Justice Studies as well as a Master’s in Social Work. Prior to this, I received a BA in Spanish and wrote my thesis in the language. I currently work as a therapist with Latino clients and continually strive to further my cultural humility. I studied abroad in Argentina, living with a host family and taking classes at the local university. I further studied in Peru, focusing on human rights as part of my Peace and Justice program. While there I lived with an indigenous family that was largely ignored by the federal government. This gave me insight into certain underserved populations. I continued this exploration in my social work program. I completed 2 internships; the first with Latino populations who were seeking governmental services, the second with underserved youth of color in the Englewood area of Chicago. These experiences inform my tutoring as I ever attempt to foster a sense of humility with students, recognizing that everyone has his/her own learning style and learn information in a different way.
