Prior to moving to California, I was working in the private school system in DC at two different k-8's. While there I had the opportunity to teach theatre, dance, creative writing, and direct several productions. I was also a teaching assistant in second grade and a substitute teacher working extensively in science, math, music and homeroom classes. I've worked with kids on reading improvement, basic math skills, music, performance and speech in the classroom. As well as being a teaching artist for the past 10 years, and know that communication skills are essential to success in other subjects.
Learning can be tricky when based on one set of rules, my goal is to find the best strategy for each student. Learning should individual and I want to help personalize for students. Depending on the subject and the need in that area, my goal would be to come up with a plan that best fits the student and move forward from there, knowing that flexibility is the key to a successful approach.
I want everyone to learn with confidence, and find the right strategy and skill is the foundation to get there.
