Finding a knowledgeable tutor is easy. Like real estate agents, they are everywhere. But as in all things, finding the right fit for your child is a daunting challenge. When I set out to locate a tutor for my son, I created a list of skill sets I was looking for. This list included the ability to inspire by example, a strong moral and ethical compass (don't underestimate this one - Shane is a deeply honest individual with a strong ethical code), a sense of humor, a flair for creative problem solving and, most importantly, I was looking for someone who wanted to create a success story with my son and not simply collect a fee. Needless to say most tutors checked off only a few boxes; Shane checked them all off, and then some. I've found Shane to command a youthful understanding of the teen mindset balanced by a pragmatic, goal oriented approach that yields quick, positive results. A concrete example of this was reflected in my son's last permanent report card where Shane was able to jump my son's grade from a D to a B over the course of weeks. Thanks to Shane, my son has the resources and tools to achieve an A on this upcoming permanent report card. Although intellectually capable, my son needed Shane to provide structure and context in a way that was meaningful to his young mind. I trust Shane and am impressed with his diligence and follow through. Shane makes himself available outside the scheduled hours and understands sometimes questions need immediate answers. Unlike many tutors, Shane is an accomplished individual and has many options professionally. Shane has decided to tutor primarily out of an altruistic need to serve the next generation. If you want only the very best for your child and won't settle for an actor/writer in waiting for a tutor, then step up to the next level and engage Shane as an active participant in your child's development.

Can pick up whereever the math students needs him
Very good at focusing on the material at hand without getting the student distracted. All math is linked but Shane is great at focusing on what needs to be done and learned without making the task unduly complicated.

Incredibly Effective Tutor
Shane always knows exactly what he is doing and goes out of his way to make sure every second with him is well spent. Thanks to him, my SAT score improved tremendously, and I had a great time doing it. He is an expert with the SAT Math, Critical Reading, Writing, and essay sections and is very adept at making his students just as comfortable with the test. He is also very professional, insightful, and patient as a teacher. His personality and style of teaching is such that you look forward to studying because with him, the process is always extremely pleasant and you feel like your score is constantly increasing.
