Hello! I am a graduate of the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology, and the University of Southern California (USC), where I received my Master's degree in Global Medicine.

During my time at UCSD, I worked as a teaching assistant for lower-division biology courses and tutored students in a variety of mathematics subjects. Over the past 12+ years, I have had the privilege of tutoring students in math and science at every academic level, including elementary school, middle school, high school, college, and adult learners.

I am passionate about helping students build confidence, strengthen their understanding of challenging concepts, and achieve their academic goals. My teaching approach is personalized to each student's individual learning style, strengths, and areas for growth. I strive to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing problem-solving skills.

When appropriate, I provide supplemental materials and additional practice opportunities to reinforce concepts and help students master the subject matter. I believe that learning is most effective when complex topics are broken down into clear, manageable steps, allowing students to develop a strong foundation and long-term understanding.

My goal is to support each student's success while fostering a positive attitude toward learning. I value open communication with both students and parents and welcome feedback to ensure that lessons are as effective as possible. I am responsive, easy to reach through the Wyzant platform, and happy to answer any questions you may have.

I look forward to helping you achieve your academic goals!

Approved Subjects

ACT Math

ACT Math

I have experience tutoring the math concepts that appear on the ACT, with a strong focus on algebra, geometry, and problem-solving strategies. My approach emphasizes building a solid understanding of the underlying skills tested on the exam, rather than memorization of shortcuts, so students can confidently apply concepts across different question types. I help students improve both accuracy and pacing by teaching structured methods for breaking down problems and avoiding common mistakes. My goal is to strengthen students’ mathematical foundations while helping them become more comfortable and efficient with standardized test-style questions.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have extensive experience tutoring Algebra 1 and believe that a strong understanding of its concepts is essential for long-term success in mathematics. I enjoy working with students at this level because it is incredibly rewarding to watch their confidence grow and see meaningful improvements in their academic performance. Algebra 1 serves as the foundation for many advanced math courses, and I am passionate about helping students develop the skills and problem-solving abilities they will rely on throughout their future academic pursuits.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 is one of the subjects I have the most experience tutoring. Through years of working with students, I have found that breaking down complex concepts into clear, step-by-step explanations helps build both understanding and confidence. This approach enables students to apply their knowledge successfully to more challenging problems. Because Algebra 2 builds upon concepts learned in earlier math courses, I make sure students have a strong foundation in the prerequisite skills before introducing more advanced topics. By strengthening these fundamentals, students are better equipped to master new concepts and achieve lasting success in the course.
Calculus

Calculus

I have experience tutoring Calculus at the high school and introductory college levels, including topics such as limits, derivatives, integrals, and applications of differentiation and integration. I focus on helping students develop a strong conceptual understanding of core ideas while also building the procedural skills needed to solve problems accurately and efficiently. My approach emphasizes breaking down complex topics into clear, step-by-step processes and reinforcing connections between graphical, numerical, and analytical representations. I aim to help students build confidence in tackling challenging problems while strengthening their overall problem-solving abilities in higher-level mathematics.
Chemistry

Chemistry

I have experience tutoring chemistry at both the high school and introductory college levels, helping students build a strong understanding of core concepts such as atomic structure, chemical reactions, stoichiometry, and equilibrium. I focus on breaking down complex topics into clear, step-by-step explanations and connecting abstract ideas to real-world examples to improve comprehension. My approach emphasizes developing problem-solving strategies and strengthening foundational math skills that are often essential for success in chemistry. I aim to help students gain confidence in the subject while improving both their conceptual understanding and performance on exams.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

I have experience tutoring elementary math and enjoy helping students build a strong foundation in essential skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and basic word problems. I focus on making math clear and approachable by using step-by-step explanations, visual aids, and real-world examples that connect concepts to everyday life. My approach emphasizes strengthening number sense, improving accuracy, and building confidence through consistent practice and positive reinforcement. I aim to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing strong early math skills that prepare them for future success.
Elementary Science

Elementary Science

I have experience tutoring elementary science and enjoy helping young students build curiosity and confidence in exploring the natural world. I cover foundational topics such as life science, earth science, and basic physical science, while emphasizing hands-on understanding and age-appropriate explanations. My approach focuses on making concepts engaging and accessible by using real-world examples, visuals, and simple step-by-step reasoning. I aim to strengthen students’ scientific thinking skills while fostering enthusiasm and a strong academic foundation for future science courses.
Geometry

Geometry

I have extensive experience tutoring Geometry, helping students build a strong understanding of both the conceptual and visual aspects of the subject. I focus on breaking down topics such as proofs, angle relationships, triangle properties, similarity, congruence, and coordinate geometry into clear, step-by-step reasoning. My approach emphasizes developing strong logical thinking skills so students can not only solve problems but also understand the reasoning behind each step. By reinforcing foundational concepts and providing structured practice, I help students gain confidence and improve their performance in Geometry.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

Many students who struggle in Prealgebra often have gaps in foundational math skills, which can make it difficult to succeed in more advanced topics. My goal is to identify and strengthen these areas so students can build a solid understanding of core concepts. I focus on breaking material down into clear, manageable steps while providing targeted practice to reinforce learning. By rebuilding confidence and addressing weaknesses, I help students develop the skills needed to succeed in their current class and future math courses.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I have extensive experience tutoring Precalculus, helping students build a strong foundation in functions, trigonometry, and advanced algebraic concepts. I focus on breaking down complex topics such as exponential and logarithmic functions, unit circle trigonometry, and polynomial behavior into clear, step-by-step explanations. My approach emphasizes strengthening underlying algebra skills while developing students’ ability to analyze and solve multi-step problems with confidence. Through guided practice and targeted support, I help students prepare for the transition into calculus and other higher-level math courses.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

I have experience tutoring trigonometry at the high school and early college level, helping students develop a strong understanding of both unit circle concepts and right triangle applications. I focus on building mastery of key topics such as trigonometric functions, identities, graphing, and solving equations through a step-by-step approach. My teaching emphasizes conceptual understanding as well as procedural fluency so students can confidently apply formulas and reasoning to a variety of problem types. I also help students connect trigonometry to prior algebra skills to ensure they have the foundation needed for success in more advanced math courses.

Incredibly knowledgeable & kind tutor!

When I think of the most ideal tutor, I think of Suzanne. She is extremely knowledgeable, always arrives on time to our sessions, is extremely hard-working and kind. When I am struggling with any aspect of math or chemistry, Suzanne knows exactly what I am confused with, and explains the concepts with such ease and clarity. She makes herself available on the weekends or when I’m studying for a test and need timely assistance. I couldn’t speak more highly of Suzanne and her attributes. I’m so grateful for all of her help! She’s a phenomenal tutor!!
