I am a University of California, San Diego (UCSD) graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology and graduated from the University of Southern California (USC) with my Master's degree in Global Medicine. As an undergraduate at UCSD, I worked as a teaching assistant for lower division biology classes and also tutored different math subjects. I have tutored students in math and science at all grade levels: elementary, middle school, high school, college, and adult. I have over ten years of tutoring experience, and I am passionate about sharing my knowledge with students.

I enjoy tutoring students of all ages, and I always try to maximize students' learning potential by highlighting their strengths and improving their weaknesses. If necessary, I will provide students with extra material to supplement their learning while providing the support and encouragement they need for academic success. I always try to make learning a pleasant and engaging experience by introducing topics in easy to understand ways, while allowing time for extra practice so that students can master concepts. However, I base my methods and adjust my teaching techniques based on each individual's needs.

My main goal is to benefit and supplement students' learning as much as possible, so I am always open to parents' feedback and suggestions. I enjoy working with students at this math level because it is rewarding for me to see improvements in their grades and pertinent to set a strong foundation in the concepts that will be utilized later in their academic ventures.

Algebra 2 is one of the math subjects that I have the most experience tutoring. I found that breaking down difficult concepts using a step by step approach provides students with the understanding and confidence necessary to apply their newfound knowledge to more challenging questions. Because Algebra 2 involves concepts that require knowledge from previous math classes, I ensure that students have a strong background in those more basic concepts before tackling more complex concepts.

Trigonometry

Many students struggle with trigonometry because it requires an understanding of algebra and geometry topics that they learned in previous years. From algebra, students must be comfortable manipulating algebraic expressions and solving algebraic equations. From geometry, students must be familiar with the Pythagorean theorem and similar triangles. I like to take a hands-on approach when tutoring trigonometry by giving students many example problems and also drawing pictures to go with each problem. This way, students can correctly visualize the information that is given and understand what they are solving for.

When I think of the most ideal tutor, I think of Suzanne. She is extremely knowledgeable, always arrives on time to our sessions, is extremely hard-working and kind. When I am struggling with any aspect of math or chemistry, Suzanne knows exactly what I am confused with, and explains the concepts with such ease and clarity. She makes herself available on the weekends or when I’m studying for a test and need timely assistance. I couldn’t speak more highly of Suzanne and her attributes.
